HISTORY

HOTEL UZWIL SINCE 1865

  • Hotel Uzwil, built in 1865, was the first building in Uzwil to have a large hall for public meetings and evening entertainment. It was destroyed in a fire in 1884 and reopened in 1885 with a bit of a facelift – and a new addition: it was the first inn in the canton with electric lighting.

  • The building fell victim to another fire in 1909. Only a short time later, the hotel was rebuilt as we know it today – combining elements of the old structure with a contemporary redesign.

  • Hotel Uzwil has been owned by the Bühler family from Uzwil since 1955. At the helm of the hotel, they constantly strive to preserve tradition while still moving with the times.
